We at The Oakland Poetry & Wide Open Mic thank the community for all of the support! Every 2nd Thursday, local artists come to share their craft with an engaging audience. Shout out to all of the new artists touching the stage, we appreciate your voices and the art!!! Keep it coming. Meet your incredible feature for the night:

Originally from new York, Erica Nicole is a Houston-based poet and adolescent psychiatric nurse. She received a bachelor of Science in Nursing with a minor in psychology in 2015, became a certified child & adolescent trauma professional in 2017, and is currently pursuing a postgraduate certificate in LGBT health policy & practice. When she isn't working, Erica Nicole is "poeting" (as her teenage patients would say). Initially poetry was just a way for her to work through her own life experiences, but poetry has become a space to raise aweareness and promote coonversation and healing for others. Erica Nicole's work addresses an array of topics including mental health, sexual & domestic violence, and queerness. She hopes that by challenging the "what happens in the house, stays in the house" rule, others will have courage to seek help and speak out!

Your Host for the Poetry Slam will be Reggie Edmonds. Jamey Williams will be hosting the Wide Open Mic.

Price of entry is $10 for audience and $5 for artist that sign up for the Slam or Open Mic.
